What a remap can realistically do
- Smoother power delivery and stronger low-end torque for a loaded van
- Modest, sustainable economy gains on motorway and long-haul use
- Tuned to your use case - economy or power and driveability (you can't fully maximise both at once)
For the full picture on fuel, read the honest version: does remapping a van actually improve MPG?
The Sprinter is our specialism, so we tune it the way we diagnose it - conservatively, on a healthy engine, with the original file backed up. No silly numbers, no chasing a forum brag.
What it can't (and shouldn't) do
- It won't fix a mechanical fault - a worn turbo or blocked DPF needs repairing first.
- It mustn't disable emissions systems. DPF/EGR/AdBlue delete is illegal for UK road use and an MOT failure - we don't do it.
- It's a modification, so there are insurance implications: you must declare it (we give you a written note to do so).
Why we diagnose before we remap
We only remap a healthy engine. A pre-remap diagnostic confirms there are no underlying boost, fuel or emissions faults first - because remapping over a fault just masks it, like turning the radio up to drown out a knock. See how we approach faults in what a proper limp-mode diagnostic looks like.
A Sprinter remap is legal, MOT-safe, insurable and reversible - provided no emissions kit is deleted and you declare it. Full detail in is a van remap legal?
